Mourning the loss of one of my Swobo gloves, thereby rendering it only half as useful, I picked these up at a local LBS (PI Grip-Lite Glove). I know, I know. Not wool, but I wanted to give them a try.
Well, they're gloves and they do indeed cover your hands as advertised. However, the seams are pretty weak and I split the palm open on this last trip. I wasn't doing handstands or anything on them, just plain old touring riding and they split! I probably only had about 300 miles on these gloves.
To their credit, my hands were warmish. The interior material these use inside is sorta weird though. It made my hands felt like they were perpetually sweaty with this weird warm slick feeling. Eww.
Needless to say, I'm not a fan of these. I wish I had purchased them at REI so I could exchange them for some proper wool ones. Bummer.

I bought the Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gloves at REI, even though I had read this awful review. I knew I could return them, but they seemed like a perfect match. They ended up being too cold even in 40 degree weather, which is by no means cold.
I have a bunch of other pearl Izumi gear and like it, so I don't know what's up with the gloves!

I only have two other bits of PI gear...
One is a cycling short and is still going strong after two years....
The other is a cycling jacket which I'm a little lukewarm about...works great but I hate the zipper on the detachable arms...they're tiny and are such a pain to reattach...
Third, is these gloves...i'm going to back to wool on these...
I cannot recommend the Salsa Toastada 3 finger "lobster-style" glove enough. They are warm, comfortable, and fit great on a variety of handlebar styles.

All of my pearl gear from the mid to late 90's has outlived all the pearl gear I've bought since then.
Pearl has a lifetime warranty and it is handled by any local dealer. Just take it back and ask for a refund -- if the LBS refuses, contact Pearl for what they'd recommend as a next step. Even if they didn't have that warranty, I believe that any LBS worth its salt would take those gloves back and stand up for themselves and their customers with the regional rep. Situations like that are not cut and dry -- LBSs need to defend themselves in cases like that by having clear expectations for quality and customer support.
